I was born in Mimico, Ontario and moved
to a village near Guelph called Erin for junior and high school when I was
10.
In 2000
I moved to Toronto and attended George
Brown College, graduating in 2003 from the Graphic Design program. I freelanced
for several years after graduation and worked at a print shop on Berkley
Street in Toronto before moving to Barrie in 2007.
At this time I was motivated to expand my skillset to learn more about web
construction (I learned quickly that being just a graphic designer really wasn't
enough anymore! The smaller studios in Barrie were all looking to hire graphic
designers who could also code) so I took 3 courses at DPA
Communications; Advanced Dreamweaver (with an emphasis on advanced CSS
practices), Introduction to Flash and Intermediate Flash. The course on Dreamweaver
taught by Geoff Blake improved
the way I designed websites immediately.
I am currently freelancing for various individuals and companies in Barrie
and Toronto and am learning new techniques and design style practices every
day.
As you can see my personal style leans towards a the minmal
style however I typcially integrate a combination of modern and traditional
styles for my clients as that style is popular and also relateable to the
widest audience.
I will always help my clients to determine what key message
they are looking to communicate so I can then do my job as effectively as
possible. My goal is always to keep the process simple and stress-free for
my clients.
